Requirements to become an Egg Donor with The Center For Egg Options Illinois:

A woman may apply to be an egg donor if she is between the ages of 21-30 years old. She must be in good health, both physically and emotionally. Her height and weight must be proportionate and have a High School Diploma (additional degreed education is preferred). She must have a registered social security number and be very committed to the egg donation process. It is essential that our donors be in stable relationships or not sexually active with multiple partners to minimize the risk of transmitting diseases. An egg donor CANNOT be using any illegal drugs OR be a smoker.

If a woman fulfills the requirements above, it is only the first step to becoming a Center for Egg Options Egg Donor. The next steps include filling out a detailed questionnaire about both her and her family. It is crucial that this be filled out honestly and completely. If the questionnaire is free of concerns, The Center for Egg Options Illinois will then personally meet with the prospective donor to discuss the procedure and the responsibilities of the donation process. After that personal meeting, further screening will be arranged including a consultation with a genetic counselor and she will meet with a licensed clinical social worker or PHD Psychologist who will administer the MMPI-2 Personality Inventory questionnaire.

All prospective egg donors will have a urine test for drugs and the following blood tests:

  1. Blood type and Rh Factor.
  2. Screening for five sexually transmittable diseases: AIDS HTLV-1 (An Aids like virus), Hepatitis B and C, and Syphilis.
  3. Thyroid function, CBC, and Platelet count.
  4. Cystic Fibrosis and other ethnically appropriate inheritable diseases such as Thalassemia, Sickle cell anemia or Tay Sachs Disease.
